Paul McDonagh-Smith is a Visiting Senior Lecturer at MIT Sloan who spent over 20 years in senior telecom roles before focusing on how to translate emerging technology into measurable business value. 

Paul has created a number of innovative MIT Sloan courses, and is currently Faculty Director on a series of AI and Digital Transformation courses, shaping how leaders turn algorithmic business thinking and technology into competitive advantage. 

He works with Government Agencies and leading organizations across multiple industries to convert AI challenges into opportunities for sustainable growth. Paul also serves as an advisor to NASA Goddard Space Flight Center.

Thomas Malone

Faculty Director, Artificial Intelligence: Implications for Business Strategy

Thomas Malone is a professor of information technology and organizational studies at the MIT Sloan School of Management, and his research focuses on how new organizations can be designed to take advantage of the possibilities provided by information technology.

He has published his groundbreaking research in the book The Future of Work and in over 100 articles, research papers, and book chapters. His newest book, Superminds, appeared in May 2018. He holds 11 patents, co-founded three software companies, and is quoted in numerous publications such as Fortune, the New York Times, and Wired.

Malone holds a BA from Rice University, two master’s degrees and a PhD from Stanford University, as well as degrees in applied mathematics, engineering-economic systems, and psychology.

These courses are broken down into self-paced weekly modules designed to help you manage your time effectively and complete your certificate in 3-6 weeks. You'll engage with a combination of online resources, interactive content, peer discussions, real-world case studies, and practical assignments to accelerate your learning.

These courses offer you the opportunity to earn a digital certificate of completion from the MIT Sloan School of Management, MIT Schwarzman College of Computing, or MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory.

Assessment is continuous and based on a series of practical assignments completed online. In order to be issued with a digital certificate, you’ll need to meet the requirements outlined in the course handbook. The handbook will be made available to you as soon as you begin the course.

You can pay your course fees before the course starts, or you may opt for a two-part payment plan, with the first installment due prior to the course start date. You can also opt for employer assistance with your course fees.
